Something tells me that Google's automatic translation function still has a ways to go, though I do plan to incorporate "kiss a loop!" into my vocabulary as soon as humanly possible.

And speaking of Things French, the trailer is out [Windows Media link] for Wes Anderson's latest, The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. Well, the character isn't actually French, but I always imagine that title read out in a hokey cod-Cousteau accent. You know, like that one episode of Sealab 2021. "Ah return to za wooomb of Mozzer Oshean," like. Ahem, anyway. Looks much funnier and less emo than Royal Tenenbaums, though that film had its charms, and anyone who just lets Bill Murray do his thing is fine by me. And check out the Henry Selick stop-motion underwater life, too...nice. Not to mention the script by is co-written with Noah Baumbach, who's wonderfully nasty when he's at the top of his game, and the trailer prominently features New Order's "Age of Consent" and (I think) Suede. Whee.

Anyhow, as you can probably tell, the Monday mp3 didn't happen, for a variety of reasons. And I still can't settle on something appropriate to say about Elliott Smith, so that post will remain respectfully blank, keeping me from mucking it up with crap jokes and weepy reminiscences of how "Waltz no. 2" just hits me right there, maaannn. To make up for it, I'll leave the previous two up just a bit longer and do a double post tomorrow.

Edit Added Philip Sherburne and his Neumu column Needle Drops to the sidebar because, well, he kicks ass. With his mighty pen. Word processor, whatever. What finally convinced me was his column on MEAM, aka Michael England, who really is fucking brilliant. Seriously. Buy his EP on Skam, it'll do ya good. And keep an eye peeled; he's supposedly almost finished a collaborative DVD with Bola tunes, and if the brief excerpt shown at last year's ResFest is any indication, it's going to be killer.
