misc.

This has nothing to do with music, so feel free to skip down to the links section, but there's a video game coming out soon in Japan I feel the need to talk about a little bit. PS2 owners take note. It's called Wanda and the Colossus, and ungainly title aside, looks to be one of the most beautifully designed games I've ever seen. Check out the short teaser trailer here. Wanda is a pseudo-sequel to 2002's puzzle/adventure hybrid Ico, and certainly looks like a clever idea- dunno about the execution yet, for obvious reasons, but my hopes are high.

Okay, now the music stuff...

Anti- have two mp3s from Elliott Smith's From a Basement on a Hill and a video for "Nature Boy" from Nick Cave's Abbatoir Blues.

Anticon's new website has loads of new mp3s, including Pedestrian's "The Toss & Turn," which debuted on the label sampler mix CD.

Scissorkick has two Secret Frequency Crew mp3s. Beautiful, Bola-esque stuff on Schematic, after I'd almost given up on them for all the Otto von Schirach breakcore grossout nonsense...

Daedelus, whose Of Snowdonia continues to grow on me like some kind of happy fungus, will be releasing a new album (titled Exquisite Corpse) in early 2005, with guest appearances by MF Doom, TTC, Prefuse 73, Mike Ladd, and others. And anyone who catches him on the Mush fall tour will be able to buy a copy nearly five months in advance. I can't make it to any, unfortunately, but if anyone out there can, drop me a line and we can work something out...

Also, Always Outsiders Never Outdone is miles ahead of the disappointing London Booted. Very, very nice.

Edit
The trailer for Wong Kar-Wai's 2046 is now online.

Thanks! "Impending Doom" is fantastic...it's interesting to hear him sounding urgent instead of his usual laid-back schtick.
